Chives


Always a charmer, he's long, lean, and deceptively innocent at first glance… until you get your hands on him. Smooth, upright, and just a little bit cocky, he stands there soaking up the light, knowing full well the kind of slow, lingering heat he brings. He’s not loud about it — he doesn’t need to be. One taste, one touch, and suddenly you’re thinking about him far more than you should.

Sowing & Growing
Start him indoors from February to April, letting him wake, stretch, and rise at his own teasing pace. Or slip him straight into the garden once frost backs off, giving him rich, fertile soil he can really settle into. Space him about 15 cm apart — he likes just enough room to grow long, straight, and confidently on display, never cramped, always showing off that effortless form.

Care & Conditions
He thrives in sun or a little shade, taking it all in like he’s got nothing to prove — just quietly getting better and better. Keep him moist, not soaked… he prefers that perfect balance, just enough to keep him supple and responsive. Tough, reliable, and always ready, he handles whatever you throw at him and still comes back looking fresh, sharp, and dangerously inviting.

Harvesting
Take him from the outside with a gentle snip — he responds beautifully to a knowing touch. The more you cut, the more he pushes back, sending up fresh, eager growth like he’s trying to impress you all over again. Keep his flowering tips in check if you want him focused… though if you let him go, he’s more than happy to spread himself around for next season.
